Forever England (1935)
Director: Walter Forde
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This Michael Balcon production is a rather creaky adaptation of CS Forester's WWI nautical novel Brown on Resolution. Mills is bright-eyed and full of pluck as an ordinary seaman whose bravery in German captivity leads single-handedly to the sinking of an enemy vessel. The rest of the movie only just passes muster, but you can see the young star was clearly destined to move up the ranks. The island sequences were directed by Anthony Asquith.Author: TJ
