Edgar Wallace's vigilante quartet save the Empire from foreign agents plotting to block the Suez Canal. Ludicrously jingoistic (even remembering 1956), and further blemished by a bland romance between an intrepid girl reporter (Lee) and the most handsomely boyish of the four (Jones). But still quite fun thanks to Forde's Hitchcockian flair for everyday menace (murder by poisoned suitcase at Victoria Station, by electrocution in a bathroom, by empty lift-shaft).Author: TM
