Solid propaganda effort demonstrating the effects of the German invasion of Czechoslovakia on an ordinary family, with Ameche standing firm to fight the good fight and brother Curtis embracing the Nazi cause. Schematic but not ineffective melodrama responding to the crisis in Europe. A remake of a 1928 John Ford silent about a German family surviving the horrors of WWI.Author: TJ
