Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
Director: Steve Miner
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This first sequel to Friday the 13th openswith mild panache when a summary recapitulation of the story so far ends with the sole survivor of the previous massacre being unexpectedly despatched by a new killer (the grief-crazed woman's supposedly dead son). The script then jumps five years, assembles a new set of victims at the summer camp, and repeats the gory carnage as before. The formula reached Part VIII by 1989. Cynically manipulative, stultifying in their sameness, they require no comment except that Part III was shot in 3-D, Part V (A New Beginning) toyed with being tongue in cheek, and Part VI (Jason Lives) took the rather desperate step of resurrecting its psycho like Frankenstein's monster.Author:
