Baker's Bread (1976)
Director: Erwin Keusch
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A minor key, low-budget delight with an appropriate 'small is beautiful' theme: an elaborately naturalistic account of a young baker's progress through apprenticeship and adolescence. Laced with an almost documentary insistence on the precise art of 'real' bread-making, and with a Brechtian presentation of competitive capitalism, it makes surprisingly compelling cinema from such an unlikely subject.Author: PT
