A fish-out-of-water comedy in which 'Black American Princesses' Berry and Desselle play daft but lovable Georgia belles with dreams of Hollywood glory. Following a ridiculous pop video audition, they're brought to Landau's Beverly Hills mansion by his scheming nephew, who hopes thereby to grab the old-timer's fortune. You can see how the black, modern-day Pygmalion-type story could work, just, but not with this heap of cabbage leaves for a script, and not with such desperately goofy acting from Berry and Desselle. On first encountering a bidet, the girls can't turn off the tap, so they get very wet - that's the level of humour. Landau provides a wide and knowing smile. Richardson is easier as the stuffy butler, over-acting in more taciturn style than the other loudmouths.Author: NB
