Beethoven's 2nd (1993)
Director: Rod Daniel
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Daniel's hit Beethoven sequel builds on the high slobber and house-destruct factor of the earlier film by adding aahhh! appeal in the shape of four puppies. The soulful St Bernard - now secure in the household of persuadable grump Grodin and supermum Hunt - finds a pedigree chum in Sissy, owned by evil stack-heeled Mazar. The plot follows the dogs' romance, passes discreetly over the sex, and has Grodin's three brats engaging in benign subterfuge, hiding the fruits of the union from daddy in the basement cupboard. Then the evil stack-heeled one wants Sissy back in some palaver over an emotional tug-of-love divorce settlement. Then she wants to sell the offspring for profit! Then... It's a shaggy-dog story, targeted at children and the softer cinemagoer, but amiable enough not to offend the hard-boiled.Author: WH
