Behind Closed Eyes (2000)
Director: Duco Tellegen
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Profiles of kids damaged in recent wars, trying to rebuild themselves a normality. Spencer (18), one of Liberia's ex-child soldiers (and murderers), is treated gingerly; Eranda (7), a Kosovan refugee, reluctantly communicates his feelings about war; one-legged landmine orphan Nhom (13) gets on with school and a new prosthesis, but never smiles; Jacqueline (18), a raped and now ostracised new mother, struggles for the courage to enter her village, and adulthood. Quietly affecting.Author: NB
