The Big Brawl (1980)
Director: Robert Clouse
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
No prizes for sophistication, but a much less botched job than Enter the Dragon. The first half, at least, is an adequate showcase for the not inconsiderable talents of Jackie Chan (trained in a Cantonese Opera school, he is less a martial artist than a highly skilled and inventive acrobat, with a sharp sense of physical comedy). The thinly motivated plot (involving mafiosi, kidnapping, and a brawl tournament in '30s Texas) is as implausible, sexist and naive as an average Hong Kong movie, but Chan gets enough of his own way to emerge radiating charm and to perform a few genuinely amazing stunts.Author: TR
