Billy the Kid and the Green Baize Vampire (1985)
Director: Alan Clarke
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
So utterly crazed in conception and so defiantly weird in execution that one can't help harbouring a sneaking something for it. A very simple story of the challenge and run-up to the final snooker showdown between the reigning champion (Armstrong) and the would-be contender (Daniels) is confined in a nondescript studio-built breeze-block nightmare interior of dark labyrinthine corridors, featureless rooms and odd pool parlours. A musical, it rattles along in its own funny way to the final grudge match filmed in great swooping takes on a louma crane. It has a kind of balls-out courage. One can certainly see why, but they don't make many films like this. CPea.Author: CPea
