Bird Now (1987)
Director: Marc Huraux
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Huraux's semi-documentary purports to view the phenomenon of Charlie Parker through the cityscapes of New York, but often looks like footage in search of a peg. Wouldn't Kansas City have been more germane to the subject, since Bird was formed before he hit the Apple? The interviews with the bebop veterans are intermittently informative but largely over-familiar, though the real Chan and the rarer Doris are a find. Henry Threadgill comes over as a pretentious twit. A ragbag premise.Author: BC
