Based on the case of Donald Neilson, who killed three sub-postmasters and 17-year-old heiress Lesley Whittle, this dull but earnest movie bends over backwards not to exploit its subject. But strained realism and an obsession with facts permit little insight and even less drama. The film does little more than plod after the central character on his criminal rounds.Author:
