Black Sheep (1996)
Director: Penelope Spheeris
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
In freefall since Wayne's World, Penelope Spheeris' career has descended halfway down the deep-sea Marianas Trench, whence comes this soggy comedy, guaranteed to induce the bends. It features Farley and Spade, the director's co-fugitives from Saturday Night Live (previously paired in Tommy Boy), and revolves around the gubernatorial candidacy of Al Donnelly (Matheson). Al's riding high in the polls against the unscrupulous incumbent (Ebersole), which is why his campaign can't afford the damaging presence of brother Mike (Farley), a sweet but self-destructive oaf. Mike's packed off with some guy called Steve (Spade) to an isolated cabin, where the duo perform incompetent slapstick. Mike slips and falls down a hill; a big boulder rolls on to the hut; Mike, trying to use his mobile phone, walks into a tree.Author: NB
