Boomerang (1992)
Director: Reginald Hudlin
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Patchy sex comedy about an irresistible ad-man who meets his match after feeling what it's like to be a sex object. It's hard not to wonder at Eddie Murphy's seemingly limitless egotism, which allows him to waltz through a movie in which he not only 'comes' on camera but is described as having 'the best ass' in the world. Not that there isn't a lot to laugh at: one scene where Murphy's shy pal is embarrassed by his horny, sassy parents is a side-splitter. The film is far too slick to be ineffective, but its attempts to play with the sex-war theme are often unbelievably crass. Mike Tyson's ex-wife Givens gives an understandably convincing performance as a ball-buster, and it's good to see a black-based film not concerned with guns, drugs and dem dere pigs.Author: SGr
