Botany Bay (1952)
Director: John Farrow
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Floggings and keelhaulings as Ladd, a medical student condemned to transportation on the first British convict ship bound for Australia in 1787, suffers stoically while Mason's captain sneers sadistically and Medina hovers prettily. Even dumber when Australia is reached, aborigines attack, and plague breaks out. Farrow and Ladd, with Howard da Silva in the Mason role, had already tackled a similar yarn much more creditably with Two Years Before the Mast.Author: TM
