Brigands (1996)
Director: Otar Iosseliani
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
More properly, 'Brigands, Chapter VII', this mournful, over-long, virtually dialogue-free account of man's inhumanity to man cuts between the centuries, from the recent civil war in Georgia to medieval feuding and Stalinist torture chambers, using the same group of actors in each setting. The film's deadpan tone is eloquence itself, but there's no narrative momentum when everything is so clearly hopeless.Author: TCh
