Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Refreshing to be given the opportunity to see a Japanese film that is neither 'high art', nor period dramatics or grinding social realism. Imai is not always in total control of his subject - the reaction of a Japanese family to the pregnancy of one of two unmarried daughters - but the directness and charm of his unassuming approach make this a film well worth seeing. Excellent performances, too, from Kahara as the mother, Akiyoshi and Ikegame as the sisters.
