The Call of the Wild (1972)
Director: Ken Annakin
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Jack London's Yukon yarn of an Alsatian sled-dog and his master has been filmed three times. The 1935 William Wellman version compensated for a tame adaptation by the presence of Clark Gable and Loretta Young; the 1976 telemovie benefited from a tougher James (Deliverance) Dickey script; all this has to boast is dreaded multi-national packager Harry Alan Towers, who was still mining the same seam of fool's gold in 1979 with the tax-sheltered Klondike Fever. At least Canadian money ensured the right locations for that; here Norwegian snowscapes substitute.Author: PT
