Cannonball Run II (1983)
Director: Hal Needham
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Cannonball Baker set the first New York to LA road record back in the '20s with a time of 60 hours for the 3,000 miles. When Congress effectively castrated the big-engined muscle cars of the '60s with smog emission laws and a blanket 55mph speed limit, Brock Yates, a motoring journalist, inaugurated the highly illegal 'Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash' in 1971. US Grand Prix star Dan Gurney brought the time down to 35 hrs 54 mins, and Hollywood stuntman Needham once took part in a camouflaged ambulance, went on to make the first Cannonball Run, a lot of money, and then this sequel, in which the old Hollywood 'Rat Pack' of Sinatra, Martin, Davis and MacLaine are reunited for the first time since Ocean's 11 (1960). There are nun jokes, mafia jokes, big breast jokes, karate jokes, Jaws jokes, more big breasts. It's a long ride. CPea.Author: CPea
