Crime melodrama with crusading small-town newspaper editor Forsythe exposing organised crime, despite collusion of corrupt police force and Mafia threats against his life. The earnest plot is nothing to write home about, but the effective use of documentary-style location shooting and deep-focus photography was innovatory for its day.Author: NF
