Feeble race comedy, recalling the witlessness and offensiveness of The Watermelon Man, in which a secretly Jewish man (Segal secretly Jewish?) makes it big in WASP America until his illegitimate black son shows up and shows him up. Director Schultz is still best known for his funky Car Wash, but this marks his decline into MOR movie-making. Carbon Copy looks very good, but style doesn't make up for narrative weakness.Author: MA
