Chère Louise (1972)
Director: Philippe de Broca
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Moreau is the spinsterly divorcée, taking up a new post as a schoolteacher after the death of her mother, who befriends and then seduces a young, out-of-work Italian in this surprisingly unsentimental, even detached film. However, where in de Broca's comedies the wit of his direction and the speed of his narration are the film's major virtues, here his would-be stylishness has the effect of highlighting rather than camouflaging the thinness of his material.Author: PH
