The Coca Cola Kid (1985)
Director: Dusan Makavejev
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
One-time proud sex warrior and anarchist liberator of the libido, Makavejev has lost his bottle on The Coca Cola Kid. A Coke missionary arrives in Australia with the intention of ousting the local soft drinks king. Aside from the old man's shotgun methods of dissuasion, there are also the distractions of a rapacious Scacchi, a hotel waiter who thinks he's from the CIA, and the Oz fauna. As usual there are some incidental pleasures (among them a 'roo with its arm in a sling, and Scacchi continuing in her mission to spontaneously combust the male population of the planet). Against these, however, is a plot that goes AWOL in the interests of true love, and Roberts, as the kid from Coke, who is well on his way to becoming the world's worst actor. CPea.Author: CPea
