Briefly celebrated, now long forgotten excursion by Morrissey into the dark world of Lower East Side gangland. Brazil vs Puerto Rico is the grudge match here, featuring the usual drug dealers' turf war as the hard-to-care-about bone of contention. Often taken for black comedy, its lurid visuals, ragbag assortment of performance styles, and the succession of ambushes, escapes and showdowns suggest something closer to Victorian melodrama.Author: DO
