The Command (1954)
Director: David Butler
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Both the first film in CinemaScope from Warner Bros and the first Western in the widescreen process from any studio. This yarn of a cavalry medical officer inheriting command of a wagon train, and fighting both Indians and smallpox, has its moments; most of them thanks to the script rather than the ponderous direction, although Sam Fuller, credited with the adaptation from a James Warner Bellah novel, disowned the film after screenwriter Russell Hughes' revisions ended up on screen.Author: PT
