Stiff performances and shoddy sets apart, this late Hammer depiction of the activities of Countess Elisabeth Bathory - who used to bathe in the blood of slain virgins in an attempt to regain her youth - is still intriguing for its emphasis on corruption and decay rather than vampirism.
