The Court Jester (1955)
Director: Norman Panama, Melvin Frank
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Spasmodically effective spoof of Robin Hood-style adventures, with Kaye as the former circus clown joining up with a band of outlaws to overcome a tyrannical usurper king. Whether it's really watchable depends on what you feel about the charmless Kaye, whose vehicle this is from start to finish.Author: GA

- Posted on Jan 04 2008 09:16 An acceptable storyline which ensures a fast pace and direction and several set pieces that are film comedy classics. Kaye is reined in by the structure but still has enough room to improvise, this is where he is at his best. Good songs, Glynis Johns, the flaggon with the Dragon, the induction of the Knight, Rathbone is perfect. This is one of the top comedy films ever.
