The Cyclist (1989)
Director: Mohsen Makhmalbaf
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
An Afghani immigrant worker rides in a circle for a week to raise money for his sick wife. Mohsen Makhmalbaf's output is distinctly variable, with a tendency to convoluted intellectualism, but in this case (a variation on They Shoot Horses, Don't They?) the prevailing ponderousness is only exacerbated by the crudeness of his technique. Well-meaning, maybe, but an alienatingly opaque and clumsy effort.Author: NB
