'Gator Bait (1974)
Director: Ferd Sebastian, Beverly Sebastian
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Despite the tantalising title, this exploiter is a woefully sodden, Z-grade fusion of Deliverance and Gator. In the Louisiana swamplands, the local sheriff's boy (Ventura) frees swamp Valkyrie (Jennings) for what was an accidental killing. The film is devoted to the lumbering efforts of the demented family of the deceased, together with the lapsed forces of law and order, to track down the 'wildcat'. The directors manage to blow every opportunity of the pulp genre. The location is totally wasted (were alligators out of season?), the script and performances devoid of any real energy or brash humour. Sadly, even Claudia Jennings, heroine of the excellent Truck Stop Women, doesn't deliver as she catches snakes with her bare hands and leads her male pursuers a merry dance.Author: IB
