Gawin (1991)
Director: Arnaud Selignac
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Making ET look like a right hard bastard, Gawin is the winsome space-hopping chum of little Felix, sci-fi crazy and suffering from leukaemia. When Felix's doctor starts to mutter balefully that medicine can do no more, stricken widowed Papa (Anglade) decides it's time for extra-terrestrial forces to take a hand... They seem to have taken a hand in the script as well, since Gawin proceeds with a blithe disregard for plausibility. Clearly conceived as a three Kleenex-box movie, it's guaranteed to leave you dry-eyed, not to say slack-jawed with disbelief. Give or take a couple of flash Beineixian gliding shots in the first minute, it's unmitigated astro-piffle.Author: JRo
