Slow-burning and extremely uneven chiller with Karloff as a professor who believes that a ring stolen from an Egyptian tomb will grant him immortality. However, when Karloff lays down to die, his servant steals the gem, and the professor comes back to life to wreak a terrible revenge. The build-up is too slow, and the later scenes degenerate into ill-judged humour and Old Dark House clichés. Keep an eye out for Richardson, making his screen debut as a phony vicar.Author: NF
