Shot down over Italy in WWII, composer Denison is inspired by the glacial beauty of the Alps and his illicit desire for the young Cortese to write an opera based on the legend of the Glass Mountain. When he returns to Blighty, his wife Dulcie Gray waits stoically for his indifference to thaw. This solidly directed, lavishly mounted romantic tosh was a huge hit in its day.Author: NF
