From Time Out Film Guide

This thoroughly captivating, amusing documentary records singer Kazuko Hohki's visit to her home town of Tokyo where, in between performances with her group the Frank Chickens, she gets married and canvasses women's views on their changing role in Japanese society. The most fascinating revelations come from Hohki's wonderful mother who, as a priest in the religious group House of Development, preaches the benefits of laughter within a doctrine for positive living. Her Zen demonstration on the art of a long and happy marriage is a sequence to be cherished.
