Expansive but routine romantic adventure, with Kelly coming between expat emerald miners amid the local (Eastman) colour of South America. A profusion of natural disasters give Marton the chance to show his paces, usuallybetter appreciated when confined to action sequences and second unit inserts on the films of others (as in the chariot races of Ben Hur). An early script from the writing team of Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts who, despite signing proficient stuff for directors like Walsh and Mann, will probably be best remembered for creating Charley's Angels over 20 years later.Author: PT
