Greenwich Village (1944)
Director: Walter Lang
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The Village in the Roaring '20s and the new boy in town is dapper Don Ameche, a talented composer hoping to get his latest concerto performed at Carnegie Hall. What happens, though, is that he falls in with Carmen Miranda, exotic hostess at William Bendix's swingin' speakeasy, who persuades him to let her boss turn it into a Broadway revue - and just the vehicle for singing sensation Vivian Blaine, with whom young Ameche is already besotted. The fluff factor is high in this easygoing Fox frolic, but trainspotters will note the fleeting presence of cabaret artistes The Revuers, who included future star Billy Holliday and Singin' in the Rain writers Betty Comden and Adolph Green.Author: TJ
