The Guinea Pig (1948)
Director: Roy Boulting
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Thanks to the first cinematic sounding of the word 'arse', a vaguely controversial examination of what would happen if you let working class yobs into the country's public schools. Attenborough is the tobacconist's son whose uncouth manners give him a hard time as he shocks the snobbish teachers and pupils of an old-established institution. Solid entertainment, even if barely convincing, distinctly soft on the political side (he eventually wins respect and friendship, of course, having been moulded to the public school image), and riddled with special pleading.Author: GA
