Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night (1987)
Director: Hal Sutherland
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Likeable, if predictably pale, sequel to Disney's Pinocchio, which replaces Jiminy Cricket with a glowbug called Gee Willikers. Pinocchio is whisked off to sea on a passing magic carnival ship commanded by the Emperor of the Night, who gets his power from living puppets like Pinocchio or he dies. 'The music is cheerful and bouncy although it was very loud, and the voices are good too, particularly the Good Fairy, who reminded me of Margaret Thatcher. Overall, I'd say it was an enjoyable film' (Keiron Pim, aged eight).Author: DA
