Préparez Vos Mouchoirs (1977)
Director: Bertrand Blier
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
An inspired attack on 'real life' melodramas of the soppy kind capped by Kramer vs Kramer. Depardieu, all solicitude and whispers, is the ham-fisted husband, worried by his wife's elusive 'dizzy spells'; Dewaere is the first of several men he invites into their marriage to 'cheer her up'; Riton is the schoolboy-lover she finally adopts to complete a bizarre ménage-à-quatre. Somewhere in all this chaos, the movie firmly puts the boot into mainstream French comedy, substituting absurd and amiable bad taste for the intellectual rigor mortis of which Parisians are so proud. An erratic, often hilarious movie.Author: CA
