Proud to Be British (1973)
Director: Nicholas Broomfield
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A National Film School documentary in which residents of the small town of Beaconsfield reveal appallingly ingrained attitudes on such subjects as Britain's imperialistic benevolence, the natural superiority of the British race, the necessity of class and the status quo. Interviewees range over several generations, and from working to ruling class. Broomfield has eschewed all commentary and allowed the subjects to speak for themselves. The irony is blunt but effective.Author: RM
