Well-meaning but rather dull Western, clearly derivative of the earlier Broken Arrow as it ladles out a message about how the Indians were only mean because some white men had been mean to them first. Buetel (Billy the Kid in The Outlaw) is ineffectual as the title character, trying to forge the bonds of friendship between whites and Indians in the face of gold-greedy shit-stirring from Hadley, although Young adds a touch of class as the good liberal gambler who saves the day.Author: GA
