Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

One of those moody thrillers where down-on-his-luck gringo (Ferrer's blocked scriptwriter) heads down to Mexico and finds himself involved with a femme fatale, corrupt officialdom and various seedy ex-pats. Nothing very original, then, although there's a nice twist when Ferrer wakes to find himself short of one kidney. The hothouse atmosphere, boozy interludes and fishing-nets on the beach suggest that Marconi has seen the likes of The Big Steal and Out of the Past once too often.
