Head Over Heels (1979)

Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Occasionally engaging romantic comedy (based on Ann Beattie's novel Chilly Scenes of Winter), with Heard as the Salt Lake City civil servant doing his damnedest to win back the woman with whom he had an affair the year before. The trouble is, she's not too sure about his idolisation of her, nor of whether she wants to leave her husband. Strong naturalistic performances and an unforced script keep the ogre of wackiness at bay, although - as in Between the Lines - Silver's attitude all too often becomes rather ingratiatingly indulgent towards the determinedly 'nice' characters, resulting in a soft, mushy centre.
