Kirk Wong's most daring film: a deeply cynical take on the kung-fu genre crossed with dystopian sci-fi and an attitude towards sexual kinks straight out of an early Lou Reed song. Ray Lui (the nominal hero) is killed off early, allowing the chunky Wong Lung-Wai to move centre stage as the stolid but highly corruptible fighter who takes on transvestites, robotic dykes, newly synthesised hallucinogens and neo-Nazi megalomaniacs.
