Using concert footage shot between 1977-78 (climaxing with the 'One Love Peace Concert' where Marley, elevated to prophet status, unites on stage the leaders of the two Jamaican political parties), this falls into exactly the same trap as its predecessors in reggae documentary. For whom was the film made? If Black, the rasta talk-over is unnecessary; if White, it is almost incomprehensible. Despite a scissors-and-sellotape approach to editing, and a sound quality never better than variable, the film does have its joyous moments: the gleeful Tosh as he anthemises the 'erb in 'Legalise It'; the sadly missed wobbling antics of Jacob Miller, whose enthusiasm is hard not to respond to and ultimately saves the film from being a ganja-fogged mess.Author: FL
