Heidi Fleiss – Hollywood Madam (1995)
Director: Nick Broomfield
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Broomfield's characteristically feisty, intrusive documentary about the Tinseltown prostitute/madam is packed with biographical detail, eye-catchingly sleazy characters (but unfortunately no real stars), and lots of unanswered questions. Fleiss is clearly a pretty shrewd mover; Madam Alex, her mentor, now seems merely a sad eccentric; while Fleiss's on-off, love-hate relationship with film-maker, lover and alleged pimp Ivan Nagy, is a wonder to behold: exploitative in the extreme, but who's exploiting who? Fascinating, but then, however sharp or persuasive Broomfield's sleuthing methods, that's almost inevitable.Author: GA
