Hell House (2001)
Director: George Ratliff
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
'Is fear part of salvation? Absolutely. Fear of going to Hell.' That's the theory at Trinity Church, Texas, where every year they put on a Halloween show depicting sinners going about their business - attending raves, being gay, having abortions, committing suicide - and reaping the whirlwind. In 2001 they added a Columbine shooting to the mix. This well-made documentary follows this bizarre throwback to the Mystery Plays from auditions (acting qualities balanced with spiritual ones), through rehearsals to first night. It's strikingly non-judgmental. Know your enemy, I guess.Author: TCh
