The Hellstrom Chronicle (1971)
Director: Walon Green
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A curious mixture of entomological documentary and cheapjack horror movie, with Pressman impersonating a supposed visionary Swedish scientist called Nils Hellstrom, and intoning apocalyptic warnings about mankind's imminent come-uppance. The insects are taking over, is the message: scientifically possible and even probable, no doubt, but dramatised with laughable over-emphasis. The microphotography, on the other hand, is amazing, making the insects (everything from bees and termites to Black Widow spiders and driver ants) look like horrendous monsters, and containing quite enough chills in its own right.Author: TM
