Henry VIII and His Six Wives (1972)
Director: Waris Hussein
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The BBC series The Six Wives of Henry VIII was a typically well-costumed and researched affair, if rather predictable in its desire to show that underneath the infamous king's bluff and headstrong exterior there lay a lonely and reasonable man. This big-screen spin-off retains that predictability, while losing a lot of historical detail in its compression of the nine-hour original. Most annoying, however, is Michell's mannered and determinedly larger-than-life performance.Author: GA
