Hocus Pocus (1993)
Director: Kenny Ortega
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This comedy ghoulfest - about three hanged 17th century Salem witches revivified at Halloween 1993 - toes a wobbly line between genuinely scaring the tinies and diverting the seen-it-all teens. New-kid-in-town Katz believes witches and stuff to be all hocus pocus until heart-throb Shepherd takes him to her family's disused museum - the old witches' house - where he foolishly lights a black-flamed candle and brings back the blood-seeking daughters of darkness. The ugly trio - Midler, Najimy and Parker - perform a show-stopping version of 'I Put a Spell on You' at a Halloween party, but otherwise it's slim pickings.Author: WH

- Posted on Sep 11 2009 23:04 I love Bette Midler but I LOVE this film and all my kids loved it and still do...even tho one is 23 now! Its one of the films we love to keep...no matter what. It comes out every halloween a good stalwart film. Don't agree with the comment 'slim pickings' but do agree with the wonderful 'I put a spell on you' scene. Very funny too
