Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me (1992)
Director: Joel Hershman
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
It's probably inevitable that a thrusting young director on the make should come up with much the same 'outrageous' ideas as his predecessors of the last generation did, but it's kinda sad that Hershman's debut feature should turn out to be such a flabby rehash of Pink Flamingos. A burglar (Parrish) on the run from a shotgun marriage in which the gun went off hides out in a California trailer park peopled with would-be droll eccentrics, and finds true lurv with the virginal sister (Shelly) of a vicious go-go dancer. The casting is right - Young and Ladd parody their established screen images, Timothy Leary does a cameo - but the sense of going through the motions is overwhelming. This is more like an American Carry On Columbus than a brave new voice in alternative comedy.Author: TR
